About Sadie

In-person therapy in Gig Harbor, Washington

Sadie Bingham

MSW, LICSW

I view therapy as a meaningful commitment rather than a service to consume. I approach this work with care for our time, and the depth of the process we enter together. Choosing to begin therapy is not a small decision. It reflects a willingness to slow down, and invest in your own inner life.

When you step into therapy with me, I am fully present and invested in the work we do.

I’ve walked the path you’re standing on

When I was 23 I had a breakdown that lead to a breakthrough.

I was in counseling at the time & introduced to Buddhist Psychology by my own therapist. I began studying Buddhism, attending silent meditation retreats & practicing yoga almost daily. I remember like it was yesterday when I no longer put on a mask to the outside world.

I finally surrendered to my own suffering.

Anxiety is also a part of my nervous system. Trauma is also a part of my story. Along with healing, resiliency & growth. Therapy changed my life & I believe it can change yours too. My relationship with my therapist throughout my twenties fundamentally changed the trajectory of my life.

I came into this field because of this lived experience.
I have spent my life & career studying what it is to be a human with a heart, mind & body that has known trauma. It is because of trauma that anxiety is a lifelong symptom that I will take care of I no longer resent any of this. Instead, it has been my greatest teacher.

It would be an honor to witness this adventure alongside you, too.

How My Own Practice Shapes This Work

A philosophy shaped by lived practice

My approach to therapy is deeply informed by Buddhist psychology and contemplative practice, not as a belief system to adopt, but as a way of understanding human suffering with honesty and compassion. This perspective has shaped how I relate to anxiety, trauma, and change, both personally and professionally.

At the heart of this philosophy is the understanding that much of our distress comes not from our experiences alone, but from how we relate to them. Rather than trying to eliminate discomfort or force resolution, this work invites awareness, curiosity, and the capacity to stay present with what is unfolding. Over time, this creates space for choice, self-trust, and a more flexible relationship with inner experience.

I believe meaningful change happens when we stop treating parts of ourselves as problems to solve and begin meeting them with understanding. This lens guides how I listen, how I pace the work, and how I support clients in developing a steadier, more compassionate relationship with themselves. Growth, in this sense, is not about becoming someone new, but about relating differently to who you already are.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Present, engaged, and genuinely curious

I am an active and relational therapist. I care deeply about getting to know how you think, how you make meaning, and how you experience the world. Therapy with me is not passive or distant. It is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in genuine curiosity about who you are.

Our work often extends beyond the therapy room. You may find yourself practicing new ways of relating, noticing patterns, or experimenting with what we explore together, then returning to reflect and integrate. I see you as the expert on your own experience, and my role is to help strengthen your trust in that wisdom.

Clients often share that working with me feels human, warm, and deeply supportive. While I hold professional boundaries, I also allow myself to care. I think about my clients between sessions, reflect on the work we are doing, and remain invested in supporting growth that is meaningful and sustainable.
