Sadie Bingham, MSW, LICSW

Are you ready to find your voice & learn how to use it?

I’m Sadie Bingham, a trauma & anxiety therapist in Seattle.

Are you someone who has done everything “right” in your life – college, career, relationships, an enviable Instagram account – but deep down feel like you are in hiding – hiding from yourself, your people & your past/present/future? If this sounds like you, together we can coax you to step out of the darkness. With me, you will be seen for who you really are, heard for how you really think, & celebrated for all the things that make you – you.

What’s it like to work with me?

I am not a therapist that is passive in your healing. I want to get to know you. I want to know what you like, & what you don’t like, I want to know how you think about things & determine meaning from them. It’s through this genuine form of curiosity that you begin to speak - & in speaking – you begin to know yourself.

Working with me means working outside the therapeutic space - practicing the skills we are learning & then coming back together to process them. You are the expert in your own experience & I am here to strengthen that wisdom.

I am not a therapist who isn’t willing to look at my own stuff. I believe that it is essential that I am doing my own inner work as well. So that when I provide you with feedback it’s not only from my clinical education & training but from personal experience of having been there too.

A number of clients have told me that if I wasn’t their therapist, they wish we could be friends. And I can’t help but feel the same way about my clients…but aren’t therapists supposed to be removed, clinical, sterile? The truth is, I will come to care about you. I sincerely want you to feel better in this life. Working with me is like renting a room in my brain because I will be thinking about ways to encourage your growth even when we are not together.

I want to empower your voice & your inner knowing. My job is to create an environment where this begins to happen.

This difficult tension that you are living in - I have been there too.

I intimately know what it’s like to present a perfect version of yourself to the outer world so that you can feel some semblance of control in an uncontrollable world. I know what it is like to look outside yourself to feel better.

You are at this point of seeking help because there is already an inner knowing that there can be another way…I am here to guide you through this journey of yours.

A little bit of my own story…

When I was 23 I had a breakdown that lead to a breakthrough.

I was in counseling at the time & introduced to Buddhist Psychology by my own therapist. I began studying Buddhism, attending silent meditation retreats & practicing yoga almost daily.

I remember like it was yesterday when I no longer put on a mask to the outside world.

I finally surrendered to my own suffering.

Anxiety is also a part of my nervous system. Trauma is also a part of my story. Along with healing, resiliency & growth.

Therapy changed my life & I believe it can change yours too.

My relationship with my therapist throughout my twenties fundamentally changed the trajectory of my life.

I came into this field because of this lived experience. I have spent my life & career studying what it is to be a human with a heart, mind & body that has known trauma.

It is because of trauma that anxiety is a lifelong symptom that I will take care of.

I no longer resent any of this. Instead, it has been my greatest teacher.

It would be an honor to witness this adventure alongside you, too.

 I specialize in:

Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy

I will teach you how to get familiar with the sensations in the body while simultaneously observing the thoughts that accompany the experience. This is all while having an attitude of non-judgment & self-compassion. This practice helps to further understand how our thoughts influence our emotions & vice versa.

Exposure & Response Prevention

This evidence-based process is done carefully & slowly. You will eventually learn to tolerate the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety by gradually increasing your exposure to the triggers of your anxiety. This intervention allows the brain to understand that perception of danger & actual danger are two different things.

Trauma-Informed Care

I have never met a person who hasn’t experienced some form of trauma & your reaction to trauma is normal. It’s a part of being human. We will move from “what’s wrong with me?” to “this is what happened to me” by establishing safety, trust, collaboration & meaning to the experiences in your past.
